Putting an item into the transmutation table will make the table "learn" it. The GUI has 3 sections. The area on the left is for learning purposes as well as for transmutation. The items get converted into EMC only when something from the opposite side is taken out. The fire icon at the bottom burns the item, learning it as well as turning it into EMC instantly. This is more of like a trash disposal, albeit a very useful one. The right hand side shows a list of items that you have learnt, which you can convert the EMC into. '''Warning''': If you have unspent EMC in the tablet when leaving the map, there is a good chance the Transmutation Table will forget it has EMC in it, and reset to 0 EMC. Also if a klein star is in the table it may also forget that is there and you will consequently lose it.

Transmutation-tablet

The Transmutation Tablet GUI.

The Transmutation Tablet is one of the most important items from the Equivalent Exchange mod, as it allows you to make any object in vanilla Minecraft (As well as some items from Industrialcraft and Redpower) out of other items.

The Transmutation Tablet can only transmute items from EE itself, items from vanilla Minecraft and items that appear in the Forge ore dictionary (which currently includes Silver, Copper, Tin and Gems) or that are directly created from them.

Items from other mods that are not registered in the Forge ore dictionary are not supported and must be crafted using regular means.

You can destroy this item with at least a Stone Pickaxe to get it back (any other tool is currently unknown).

Usage

Putting an item into the transmutation table will make the table "learn" it. The GUI has 3 sections. The area on the left is for learning purposes as well as for transmutation. The items get converted into EMC only when something from the opposite side is taken out. The fire icon at the bottom burns the item, learning it as well as turning it into EMC instantly. This is more of like a trash disposal, albeit a very useful one. The right hand side shows a list of items that you have learnt, which you can convert the EMC into. Warning: If you have unspent EMC in the tablet when leaving the map, there is a good chance the Transmutation Table will forget it has EMC in it, and reset to 0 EMC. Also if a klein star is in the table it may also forget that is there and you will consequently lose it.

There are 2 types of items you can put into the Transmutation Tablet, Matter, and Energy. It is shown which is currently placed in the tablet at the top of the GUI. Matter and Energy can not be mixed. Items that are matter include ores, tools, wood, stone, etc. Energy items include Coal, Charcoal, Redstone Dust, Nikolite, Alchemical Coal, and more. (Ex. If you have 8192 EMC in matter (from a diamond), you can not convert that to an Aeternalis.

If you do not have an item you wish to create, but have placed on the tablet before, you can place items, or combinations of items, totaling the same (or slightly higher) EMC value to target that item.

Example transmutaiton targeting:

  • You have 1 wood, and 1 diamond, and you would like iron.
  1. Incinerate the diamond, and create 64 more wood by using your 1 wood as a target.
  2. Remove the wood as a target and create 3 gold using the residual EMC.
  3. Place 8 wood seperatly on the targeting on the left to total 256 EMC, and create an iron.
  4. Target it, incinerate your 64 wood and 3 gold, create 31 more iron.
  5. This leaves you with 32 iron and 1 wood.

Alternatively you could do this:

  • You have 1 wood, and 1 diamond, and you would like iron. (The wood is not needed in these steps because the EMC value is too low.)
  1. Incinerate the diamond to create 8,192 EMC.
  2. If iron is not already learned, place a piece into the tablet.
  3. Acquire the iron from the right side of the tablet using the EMC to get a total of 32 iron.

Glitches

There is a rare glitch which causes incompatible items to disappear once placed in the left hand section of the table.

There has also been another instance of a glitch where the Transmutation Tablet can "forget" some items that are placed inside it. This is generally not a big problem as you can just relearn whatever was forgotten. However it is irritable if items are expensive such as Red Matter.

The Portable Transmutation Tablet is an inventory item which can be used either by right clicking (not on another block with a right click action), or by pressing "C" to bring up the transmutation GUI.
