|Ruby, emerald and sapphire, respectively.|
|Data Value||dec. 2314 and 2314:1 and 2314:2|
Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald are three gems added by Redpower. The gems can be acquired by mining their respective ores. You can use them to create tools that have a mining speed the same as that of diamond tools (however the pickaxe cannot mine obsidian), and have about a third of the durability of diamond. It is recommended to use the gems in order to create tools, so you can spend your diamonds on other items.
Unlike most other mod-added tools and weapons, the tools and weapons created with gems can be enchanted.
Ore and Storage BlocksEditRedpower gems can be encountered on all height levels up to Y=64. If you put nine gems into the crafting grid, you can create a storage block, which can be placed for decorative purposes. The gems can be reclaimed by placing the storage block in the crafting area. Ten can be mined in a "vein". Please note that the emeralds added by Redpower cannot be used to trade with testificates (default villagers).
Tools and WeaponsEdit
All tools and weapons created in vanilla Minecraft can be created with either Ruby, Sapphire or Emerald.
The gem pickaxes are as fast as a diamond pickaxes, but less durable. They have only 500 uses instead of 1560. Note that the gem pickaxes cannot mine obsidian.
The gem shovels are equivalent to diamond shovels, but have only 500 durability instead of 1560.
The gem axes are almost equivalent to the diamond version, but have only 500 durability instead of 1560.
The gem swords are equivalent to the diamond version, but have only 500 uses instead of 1560.
The gem hoes are equivalent to the diamond version, but have only 500 durability instead of 1560.
Can only be made out of emeralds but gives emeralds a "real" use.
Handsaws are required to create small blocks for covering wires and decoration. The iron version will only work on softer materials, the saws made from gems (including diamonds) will cut almost any solid block. Take a look at the Cutting Recipes page to see what can be done. Note that the Gem Handsaws cannot cut Obsidian blocks or silicon boules; you will need a Diamond Handsaw for that.
