Tutorial writing

Oh man, oh man, what a night...

So I have class in about 2 hours, and I decided to stay up all night writing a tutorial for how to make an automatic Thaumcraft 2 research generator for the Technic Pack. All I can say is, I couldnt have done it without Larry David. While to most people, watching 8 hours of Curb Your Enthusiasm straight would completely erode their sanity, for some crazy reason it keeps me going. But through all the arguing and swearing I've learned one thing: It takes a goddamn long ass time to write a big tutorial with lots of pictures! Flying Frame Quarry - Direwolf20 Version

Recently, I made a flying frame quarry using Direwolf20's design in his Youtube Season 4 Let's Play episodes 37 to 40. It can dig as big a hole as you like, and can fly(inchworm drive) in four directions to move the whole thing anywhere in your flat world.

The Frame Motor and Support Frame took me some time to get used to, but they work pretty well moving blocks and stuff around anywhere. The RedPower computer control for it should be easier than using Timers and gates, I think.

Anyway, I made it able to dig 30 x 21 rectangle hole in one cycle. Each row of 21 takes about 5 seconds or so to dig, so I will let you calculate how fast this thing can go. If you increase the 21 to some big number, it will take about the same time to dig. Currently…

I've been playing Minecraft for quite some time and a couple months with technic/tekkit. At the moment I am having issues with my ISP such that my friends can't connect to my server so I've been playing technic ssp lately learning Thaumcraft while at the same time avoiding anything and everything from EE this time around.

Fixxing instead of Complaining

I have been noticing this a lot recently, so I wanted to write about it. Often times people complain in the comments about a lack of information within a page, even if the page is tagged "Unfinished". Quite honestly one should save their breath and rather than complain do everyone a favor and add more information, even if you just google the mods main wiki and copy- paste (cite your source) some stuff over and make it fit the general template used on the Technic wiki. At least, if you really do not feel like contributing to the wiki, leave some constructive criticism like: "Would be nice if you could explain xyz in more detail" or "Link abc is dead, could you please check it out". Nuclear Meltdowns

I am only just now entering the amazing world of gumb-....Technic, excuse me, and I have recently started experimenting with nuclear reactors... A couple questions before getting onto the point of the blog. What are some good designs that are fully automated? What is the best way to cool such a reactor? Is there any misc. info I should know about reactors before building one near my house?

And now, the moment you (haven't) been waiting for! The purpose of this blog!

What are the worst timed/placed nuclear explosions you have ever had? I have not experienced any I haven't WANTED to happen yet, but I imagine one exploding near a container of corrupted vis would be quite bad...

Regarding the Unfinished Category/Banner

Heya dudes. I'm going to talk about the unfinished category and banner. I'm not going to say when you should put it into a page you've created (because you should automatically put the unfinished banner in any content page you make), I'm going to tell you when you can get rid of it.

Most of the regulars should know by now that banners that show up at the top of the page (that is, the top of the content of the page, not the wikia banner) also automatically places the category that banner is showing off. So the IC2 banner will automatically add the IC2 category to it. However, removing the banner does not automatically remove the category. You have to open the "Categories" tab in the editor. Adding a mod? - A Suggestion

I was recently looking through some old mods, and I found one I had always anjoyed called Kaevator's Super Slopes. That name may be slightly incorrect. But it's a good mod, and I think that when combined with the RedPower "little blocks" some truly breath-taking structures could be made. I think it would be a great mod to include in the pack, but I want to see what everyone else thinks as well. So you know what to do; share your opinion in the comments!

Bridge building machine

Hello,

Using RedPower, Computercraft and ccSensors I have created an interesting device - Hrabia, the automatic bridge builder.


Main components of this machine are:

  • Omnidirectional Frame Motor engine
  • Gantry with a drill (Block Breakers)
  • Gantry with an array of three Assemblers


User can manually position the machine and set the z-level on which construction will take place. The actual deformation of terrain is not important and has no influence on the building process, as seen in the picture.

After seting up the position, Hrabia deploy the gantries. Building gantry starts to construct the bridge according to the pattern given by the user. After finishing one part, Hrabia tries to move forward. On failure, Hrabia will try to destroy any blocks on it…

Steve's Carts Troubles.

Occasionally when playing Technic, items from Steve's Carts will glitch out. Specifically the blocks become pure white. They work fine when I first add them, but when I log in, they look like the picture shows. Even the icons in NEI are white squares. The cart models work, but the icons do not. Anyone know what causes it and how to fix it?

Confused about Crafting Grid Pictures

When I added the REP article, it needed a recipie, so I added one. However, the only item that showed up was obsidian. All the others said 32px. Am I doing something wrong? How do you add crafting grid images? Where do you get them in the first place? I'm just generally confused about the topic. Any help?

What will happen with Technic versus Tekkit with the removal of SSP?

SSP is gone, what will happen with Technic and Tekkit without it?

I guess a Bukkit version of Technic still would be handy, what with there being Bukkit servers still, but is it really all that needed? I heard the removal of SSP was why they killed the YogBox...

Can you dig it?

Well, we decided to start going beyond our little server and start contributing to the Minecraft community as a whole. You should see some of our edits around here (check the Mo' Creatures Horse page for a sample of the type of info we hope to contribute).


1.3 Has scrambled out server a bit, but we've finally got it mostly back up and running now. We'll also have plans to start adding video instructions on specific aspects of Technic/Tekkit, and Minecraft in general as well.

Improvments to Technic

Technic is the largest and greatest compilation of technical mods in Minecraft, but I feel that the developers need to add a few things with compatibility, preformance, and even some mods.

Technic has around 30 mods, which can take a toll on a less powerful system. I believe that a few mods can be removed. I personally belive that the best example is Mo' Creatures. It can destroy your computer(and reactor) with ease due to the immense calculations this mod requires(and the ogres). When I disabled this, my framerate and lag spike frequency got better. Besides, where does Mo' Creatures even have a place here? Even if you enjoy this mod, it is easy to reinstall it. There are also mods that can be added. A perfect example could be More Pistons.…

RedPower Rubber Trees

When I first started Technic, there were these massive, towering rubber trees, added by the redpower mod. Recently, I haven't found any of them. I still can find them in NEI, but they no longer spawn in my worlds. Can somebody fill me in on what's going on with them?

About the recent removal of Millenaire and other mods

After the Technic Pack recently updated the recommended build to version 7.2, a lot of people have been asking about what happened to mods like Forestry, Millenaire, Crafting Table II, the Zeppelin mod or to items belonging to those mods (especially electric engines, which were reintroduced in another form by the recently added Transformers mod).

I would like to answer those questions in this blog post. Please direct all and any questions related to this issue to this post and make the other users aware of it. Thank you.

Button template

I've stumbled across a template that I think would make things look and be much more helpful on the wiki. The key template can be used to show what effects different keypresses have on items.

For example: Press to instantly complete the Technic Pack wiki. (If only it was that easy).

I've used the Zero Ring page to pilot this template. What are your guys thoughts on how it's done, and whether we should start to spread it through the rest of the wiki?

Return

I'm back, after quite a hiatus, and ready to work on the wiki more than ever.

Both the wiki and the Technic Pack have expanded loads while I've been away, and I'm so glad to see it's grown so much and even attracted attention from Wiki developers.

Unfortunately, the main mod I was working on before I left, Millenaire, is no longer included in the Technic pack, so at the moment I'm a bit of a free spirit with regards to a greater aim. I'll just be drifiting around, probably cleaning up and formatting articles about Equivelant Exchange, or maybe even Thaumcraft 2.

I'm really looking forward to helping the wiki expand again, and I hope to see you all around.

Thaumcraft conversion

As the Technic Pack is now using Thaumcraft 2, we should be putting pages about Thaumcraft 2 items/features/blocks/whatever into the "Thaumcraft 2" category, not the "Thaumcraft" category. Try to remember this when making a new page about the newer version of Thaumcraft.

Having trouble with the Link function: Browser Specific trouble?

I tend to modify pages when I get down time and that usually means using Chrome which I despise but have access to at this time. However, when I go home for the day, I get back to using Firefox which doesn't give me any guff. I have found that I am able to link about 5 or 6 pages before the link maker starts doing bizarre stuff. It will change links I've already made on page or alter those belonging to other editors! I am really hand-shy of doing edits until this gets addressed.

Again, using Chrome and possibly an older version of Flash...

Tekkit: Idea's for larger explosives

Hello users and contributors of the Technic Pack Wiki! I'm A Random Contributor. I'm usually active on the Call of Duty Wiki, but ever since I started playing Tekkit, I've been drawn here, reading and editing for hours on end, and enjoying every minute of it. This is my first blog evar! So I wanted to just introduce myself. Below are some ideas for larger, and possibly helpful, explosives for Tekkit and Technic. {C Hyper Nuke = 394,944 EMC (Uranium x8 + Gunpowder x9). The Hyper Nuke has a blast radius of 50, and destroys just about everything inside its radius (Like a regular Nuke), and only requires the materials to almost create 2 regular Nukes.

Having an issue :\

Well here's the problem. I try to play technic ssp and every time I go into anything that has to do with inventories it says saving chunks and goes to a white screen. I'm not very good with the techy stuff so I don't know if there is an error report anywhere or where I can find it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Equivalent Exchange - Loosing Alchemy Table Memory

Recently had a tough time with Technic Pack updating when no updates were present. When the game finally loaded, I found that my Alchemy Tablet/table had forgotten all the items it had learned. Not to put up with such trivial bollocks, I edited one of my .CFG files to get Too-Many-Items to work and gave myself the Alchemy Tome instead. Anyone else experience that problem?


Had the problem again after the mod updater crashed. Lost all Transmutation Tablet knowledge -AND- everything I had in my Alchemy Bags. Alchemy chests are fine but everything else is gone...

EE Shift Click will not trasmute stacks of objects.

I am unable to shift click and transmute a stack (I.E. 64 sand to 64 cobblestone) with or without a target object in center grid. YT Vids claim holding shift and clicking an object in the table will convert all EMC into a stack of however many objects selected can be made. Shift clicking creates one object at a time into my inventory and regular clicking creates one in my hand (pointer). Has the shortcut changed?

Osea que no importa que tambien edite el de dofus, ¡sus logros no son compartidos aqui!, bueno, no se puede tener todo en la vida.

Crashes when putting pipes on ANYTHING

Backstory: So I originally lost my first world to a pipe crash and now I am on my second world and I make backups every half an hour so I'm not screwed over.



And Now: So, I tried the same thing I did with my first world(connecting pipes to an energycondenser then a energy collector) after making a backup and it crashed. So I changed the backup to the world and just continued on without it. Now I have mastered the EE mod pretty much and I have just set up a quarry. I first made a backup just on habit to make sure nothing would go wrong then BOOM, I place the pipe on the quarry and it crashes.


I have heard that this is about memory usuage so I was wondering is there a way to allow more memory to the technic launcher or any way I can use the pi…

Integration of Vanilla items into the wiki.

So what I was thinking is instead of having people look up a vanilla minecraft item on the official wiki we could create pages for the items on here. We could then add to the pages mentioning its use, emc value, vis value, different crafting recipes for the mods and other information that is solely related to Technic Pack and its mods. If we could create the article, make it original so as to not recieve any backlash from people mentioning us stealing from the wiki and add enough content it should increase traffic on the website and add a ton of new pages (new pages make wikis more attractive). Thoughts?

Recent template additions

We now have a number of new navigation and category templates at our disposal.

Category Templates
Category templates add a header and visually mark an article as belonging to a certain mod. The article also automatically gets added to the mod's category when the category template is added. The category template is supposed to be posted at the very top of an article.

Stub vs Unfinished

It appears this wiki is using unfinished when stub is more appropriate. (Although there are less of both now). A stub is an article that is both unfinished and lacks information. The stub template () looks like




An example of a stub is an article containing a single sentence, no crafting recipe, and no pictures. A stub is a much stronger version of the unfinished template; for something to be a stub, it needs to be missing two or more necessary sections. An article that's a stub can be updated usefully by pretty much anyone who has used the block before, or has any information on it. The stub is put in the unfinished category as well.
