The BatBox is the most basic energy storage device, and is the cheapest of the IndustrialCraft EU storage units.
Placement and RemovalEdit
Placement of the BatBox is the same as placing any other block. The BatBox may be removed by pickaxe or an Industrial Craft Wrench. Note that removal by Industrial Craft Wrench requires the player to right-click the BatBox's output side.
Behavior and LimitationsEdit
The BatBox is able to store up to 40,000 EU, and will accept up to 32 EU/t from any of its 5 input sides. Upon connection to an EU consuming device, the BatBox will emit up to 32 EU/t from its output side when the device has room for more EU. Note that the BatBox will not be able to process more than 32 EU/t on the input sides and 32 EU/t on the output side. Applying a Redstone signal to the BatBox will force it to stop emitting power from the output face.
Finding the Output SideEdit
Like all storage units, the output of the BatBox is marked by a special texture, which faces the player when the block is placed. Using the default texture pack, the output side of the BatBox will have a copper colored circle at the center of the block.
Changing the Output Side's DirectionEdit
The direction the output faces is changed by right-clicking with an Industrial Craft Wrench on any of the input sides of the block. This action will point the output side towards the player. However, by holding the Shift key while right-clicking, the output side will change to face the opposite direction.
Charging and Discharging Tools and DevicesEdit
The BatBox will charge most energy storage devices, such as an RE Battery, BatPack, or any of the hand held power tools such as the Electric Treetap. Placing these items into the upper slot of the BatBox will charge the item. In older versions of Industrial Craft, placing the tools that utilize Industrial Craft power (i.e., Electric Treetap, Diamond Drill, etc.) into the lower slot will discharge the item's energy into the BatBox , if there is available space. However, newer versions will not allow you to discharge these items back into the BatBox.
The BatBox is useful as a method of storing power from generators and also as a method of extending the distance of effective power distribution along a length of Cable. A typical starter setup of Industrial devices involves a natural generator (such as a wind or solar array for free energy) feeding into a BatBox with a row of copper cable along the front of the BatBox which feeds the back of your Macerator, Electric Furnace, etc (in essence, a T-shaped network). Note that the BatBox resets the cable length energy loss calculations , so they work well to extend your power network; using up to four insulated copper cable segments from the generator to the BatBox and up to four segments away from your BatBox to all your devices without losing any energy. Likewise, they can very easily be daisy chained to extend your storage capabilities.
